Runs in 2009

So far we have secured 3 races in 2009. They are:

1st March 09 - Newton ActiveRun 2009 - 10 km open

15th March 09 - SubUrban @ North East Run 2009 - 10 km open

30th May 09 - Adidas Sundown Marathon 2009 - 42 km open

Our Runs in 2008

It has been some time since we updated our blog. 2008 has been a sporty year for both Helen and myself. We occupied ourselves with competitive runs and also lots of regular runs as preparations. The latest run was the Standard Chartered Marathon 2008. I took part in the 10km open race and was quite happy with my timing despite suffering a last minute knee injury. It was a painful run but the best part was to endure and complete the race.
After completing the run, it was so painful that i was almost unable to walk properly back home. Below is a summary of my runs and timings in 2008

April 2008 - Singapore Passion Run 2008 - 10 km Open - 64 mins
July 2008 - Mizuno Wave Run 2008 - 10 km Open - 58 mins
Aug 2008 - Army Half Marathon 2008 - 10 km Open - 56 mins
Oct 2008 - Run for Hope 2008 - 10 km Charity Run - No Timing
Dec 2008 - Standard Chartered Marathon 2008 - 10 km Open - 62 mins

Run for Hope 2008

We collected the Tees last week and will be running this event on the coming Sunday - 5 Oct, at East Coast.

Run For Hope 2008

This Sunday 5 Oct , we are going for a charity run at East Coast. It is called Run For Hope. The donation and proceeds will go to the National Cancer Centre for research work. It will be a meaningful race and i hope for good weather on that day. Both Helen and myself will be going for the 10km run. It will be Helen first 10km race. I am also taking this race as training for the up-coming Standard Chartered 10km run in Dec 08.

My Runs in 2008

Recently completed the Army Half Marathon run for 10km Open. Timing was the best and improved from previous two runs.

Singapore Passion Run 2008 - 10 km - 1 hr 4 mins
Mizuno Wave Run 2008 - 10 km - 58 mins
Army Half Marathon - 10 km - 57 mins

Two more race to go this year. Hope for Run in Oct and Standard Chartered in Dec. Next year, more to go and definitely going to try 21 km (half marathon) :-)

The Dark Knight

Watched The Dark Knight last Friday, July 25, with Simon at Cathay. Dhoby Ghaut. It was a company movie night event by Simon's Company.

This is the second time that they had held such an event. Last year, we watched Die Hard 4 at Golden Village Vivo City.

Gathering

Meeting up my best friends last Friday at Wakaru Rest, Starhub. It has been 6 months since we last met.

The dinner was great and we had a long chit chat till the shop is almost closing soon around 10plus.

Today, Annie told me that she has successfully applied for transfer of school for her daughter. Which mean all our children will study at our old school - Red Swastika. So we are planning our next gathering for all the children to meet up again and to familiar each other.

* Missed out Yenfang as last min she needs to work late.

Anna will be going to Pri 1 next year but she will get to meet Joey and Shawn when she reachs Pri 3 when both of them will be in Pri 5.

Shape Run 2008

My second run of the year - Shape Run 2008.

Had slightly improved my timing as compare to last year 42mins v this year 38mins.

Our Next Run !

Today is Shape Run and Helen is running 5km. Next Sun is Mizuno WaveRun and i will be running 10km open. Hope i can achieve better timing this time round. Collected the race pack yesterday and quite like the Mizuno bag. Now, the focus is "training" and praying hard for good weather next Sun.

Punggol Central Run

We did not go for the run yesterday morning as it was raining heavily and we felt that it was not really safe to run on a wet road. So we give it a miss.

Our next individual will be in July.

Air Supply Concert 2008

We went to watch Air Supply on Sat evening after a day out with the Kids to the National Museum. My MIL came back early to help us take care of kids while we had the evening out for the concert.

It was a great night so with many familiar songs sung by Air Supply. The crowd went crazy when lead singer, Russell, came down from the stage.

Singapore Passion Run 2008

My first ever 10Km run after army. trained for about 2 months before the run and timing achieved was satisfactory. will be taking part few more runs this year to keep fit. next on the line is punggol central 5km run on 22 june. taking this as training for next run, which is mizuno wave 10km run on 27 july. wow ! what a changed of lifestyle in 2008.

Passion Run 2008

This is the first time we went for a run together.

Simon went for the Open 10KM run at 7.30am while I started the Fun Run 5KM at 8.15am.

I finally completed the 5KM without stopping as compare to the Shape Run in 2007.

We will be going for our next run in two weeks time - Punggol Run :)

This is our first run together next week - Passion Run 2008.

Simon has chosen the 10km Run while I took the more safer one - 5km. This is my 2nd run as I had taken part beofre the Shape Run 2007.

This year, we will be signing up for more run or had already signed up for some.

June 22 - Punggol Central Run 5km for both of us as there is no 10km. I think this is just a run for the residents around Punggol area.

July 21 - Women Shape Run 5km for me. Still cannot go for the 10km.

July 27 - Mizuno Wave Run 10km for Simon as there is no 5km for women.

We hope to sign up for more in 2nd half of the year and probably for those charity run.

Jacques BREL is Alive & Well & Living in PARIS

We went to watch this musical on a Sat afternoon - 17 May, at DBS Arts Centre.

Simple setting with a great live band and wonderful performance by the casts.

Bravo.

2008 First Family Trip

Counting down ... 123. We can't wait till this coming Friday where we embark on our first family trip to Genting, KL. This time round we're taking bus down straight from Tampines to Genting. It will be a 6 long hours bus journey but we are all prepared for this. Anna and Gabriel are also very excited with this trip especially Anna. She keeps telling us ... "daddy, mummy, this Fri we goin Genting right?" Anna has grown up and i must say that her memory power is quite impressive ... just like her mom. She can remember things very well and i am proud to sign her spelling book every week. Why? because she got "perfect score" for all her weekly test. I am preparing a reward for her and will give her a surprise. OK, keep coming back to our blog for new updates particularly our trip to Genting. Cheers

A Date with Broadway Beng 3

We went to watch Broadway Beng 3 at Drama Centre on Thursday night.

Great performance by Sebastian Tan and 3 the Chio-Buus :)

I also had the opportunity to take a photo with Sebastian and talked to him. I asked him whether will he be playing in the re-run of If There're Seasons. He said still in the planning. Really hope that re-run will have the same cast again. I love that musical so much!!! Look forward to it in 2009.

HK Trip

I had a rest & relax 4 Days HK trip last week with my friend cum colleague of 8 years.
It was an enjoyable trip away without the kids and family :)
I am glad to have a local ex-colleague accompany us throughout our stay. It was great to go to their very local cafe for meals.

Our last night was again shopping and eating. My shopping spree at H&M, I love H&M!!! And late night supper again on local desserts. Yummy!

Great performance by Pam Oei and gang.

Aug - If There're Seasons

This is the most touching show that I have ever watched. And it was Daddy first Chinese Musical show. I was amazed that George Chan can sing so so well. As well as Joanna Chong and Sebastian Tan. They are all great singers and beautiful songs by Liang Wenfu.

I will watch again when they re-run in 2009.

Musical Shows Recall

Shanghai Blues is our 2nd musical show that we have watched in 2008. We just watched the 20th Anniversary Show on BeautyWorld in Jan.

Tonight we went to watch Shanghai Blues at Esplanade. The show staring William So and Mindee Ong as the lead actor and actress.

Snowing in China

Went to Shanghai and Suzhou in Jan 07 for business and first time i experiencing snow in my whole life. Guessed what? I felt down thrice while walking on ice. I hope one day i can bring my wife and kids to experience the same.
